The Joy is in the Journey

Joy Is Not a Destination: It’s Found in the Journey with Jesus

As I sit and look at the words written on the pavement, my wheelchair’s shadow stretched across the ground, I can’t help but smile.

There was a time early in my paralysis when I wouldn’t have believed this moment could exist. I used to think joy would only come once I was healed. I believed it was something I had to fight for—something that lived far in the distance.

But now I understand something deeper and more freeing:

Joy is not a destination.

Joy is a byproduct of living in daily relationship with Jesus.

In the hardest moments, He lifts us up.

When we’re burdened, He gives rest.

When strength feels gone, He becomes our strength.

When life doesn’t make sense, He becomes our peace.

This is the beauty of a Christian spiritual breakthrough—realizing that joy isn’t found in perfection or outcomes. Joy is found in presence. And we are never alone. Because of His sacrifice, Heaven awaits us at the end of this earthly road, but His presence is with us here and now, through every twist, every valley, every victory.

Joy is in the journey because Jesus is in the journey.

Whether you move forward by rolling, crawling, hopping, or climbing, Jesus is right there with you. And the Creator of all things wants to partner with you through every step of it.

You don’t have to wait to feel whole.

You don’t have to wait for healing to discover peace.

You just have to invite Him in.
